While she knew Melbourne well, her husband and three children had never lived here. The Process
We began with a high-impact weekend. The family flew in from London, and I drove them to six off-market homes across key suburbs. This wasn’t just about inspections; it was an immersive education in Melbourne living.
We explored:
- The character and lifestyle of different suburbs and precincts
- School zones and tram access
- Architectural styles that are unique to each area
- Value differences street by street
Although none of the initial homes were quite right, the weekend helped refine their brief and build a strong foundation of trust.
With their needs clearly defined, I continued the search on their behalf, managing every detail while they returned to London to prepare for the move.

Soon after, we identified a beautifully renovated property, architecturally transformed by BE Architecture and perfectly aligned with their vision. It was listed under an Expressions of Interest campaign, but we acted swiftly.
We conducted extensive due diligence, developed a tailored negotiation strategy, and secured the home before the EOI deadline, finalising the deal in a late-night negotiation.

The Brief
In 2014, a family relocating from Asia to Melbourne faced the challenge of finding the right home in a city they barely knew. With two young children, their top priorities included proximity to quality schools, a family-friendly lifestyle near the water, and making a sound investment for the future. After an early property inspection recommended by a sales agent raised concerns about traffic and parking, they recognised the need for independent, expert guidance.
The Process
From the first meeting, it was clear that this family sought more than just a house; they wanted a home that supported their lifestyle, values, and long-term goals. With a flexible 12–18 month timeline, we began a strategic and personalised search that balanced location, renovation potential, and investment appeal.
As we explored various properties, it became clear that one partner had a desire and experience in renovation, broadening our scope to include homes with “good bones.” As confidence grew, they narrowed their focus to Brighton, a suburb offering community, coastal charm, and strong capital growth.
Soon after, they fell in love with two homes at once: one that lacked a garage, and another, a charming weatherboard, scheduled for auction. They decided to pursue the latter first.
